Poplollie Profile

Kori Kunz

Occupation: Teacher
Hometown: We moved a lot, so I didn't really have a hometown. I was born in Maine, but grew up in Rhode Island and Southern Oregon.
Birth Year: 1971
Height:
5'4"
Racing category: 2
Years Racing: I did the occasional mountain bike race from around 1993 to 2000 and then I started doing cyclocross racing. I continued with both mountain and cross and picked up road racing in 2002.
Strengths: climbing and laughing--but not at the same time
Favorite Food: Rod's carmelized onion, salmon pizza
Favorite Bike: the right one for the job
Goals:  Improving my attitude (and my time) at time trials. Beating my best placing at Cascade. Training like I mean it.

More info:

Favorite Cyclist: My husband, of course. I also admire Lisa Magness and Amy Hunter-Dillinger for being good role models in attitude and skills.
Favorite Race: The first time I did the downtown crit at Cascade. I fell off the back and managed to get back on and finish with the main group. I'd never gone that fast, with so many women on bikes, surrounded by so many spectators, and been so exhilerated.
Best Moment on the Bike: Mountain biking in Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico were pretty darn nice, but commuting home by the river path after a long day in a fluorescent lit classroom sure can feel like a little slice of heaven, too.
What's In My iPod: I don't have one.
Motto: Make it do. Wear it out. Do without.
Why I Love Racing: the challenge, the speed, the thrill
Favorite Time of Year: summer
Favorite Place To Be: Too many to choose from.
Favorite Book: Ditto.
Favorite Vacation: summer
